Tower of Fantasy officially arrived on the global market on August 10th, and the servers are already clogged with players. For those who are used to their main rival, Genshin Impactthere are several similarities, but other points have different levels of complexity.

Some care must be taken if you want to start playing on the right foot, and in this post we will give you some tips for Tower of Fantasy beginners.

Server Reboot

For starters, the servers reset time is at 5am EDT – that is 6 a.m for Brazilian players. When that time comes, rewards and other daily quests can be performed again to improve characters and overall game play.

There is a daily advance limit

Another important point is that, even if you spend hours trying hard within the game, there is a limit on how much you can level up at a time. On the first day you can reach level 18, on the second day you can reach level 24 and so on.

The levels match the chapters in your Wanderer’s Log.

Simulacra and Weapons

A very different point of Genshin Impact is that the game’s characters actually they are just skins. Furthermore, characters and weapons within the Tower of Fantasy gacha system are practically synonymous – if you take away an SSR weapon, for example, it’s the same thing as taking away the character who uses it and vice versa.

You can use the character as an avatar or stick with the skin you customized at the start of gameplay – it doesn’t matter. Appearance makes no statistical difference, and you can mix different simulacrums and weapons as much as you like. Meryl can finish off enemies using her ice sword, Samir’s pistols or King’s scythe – it’s up to the player.

Have a shield breaker on your team

Some characters in Tower of Fantasy have a very important feature to defeat certain enemies: they are shield breakers. This protection greatly reduces the damage your character deals until they are eliminated. Breaking the shield, depending on the bosses, can also provide quite useful buffs.

Some shield-breaking simulacra are Meryl, King and Shiro.

Become a friend by giving gifts

You can also unlock a “Simulacrum Trait” when giving gifts to characters later. It can be toggled and gives various buffs depending on the simulacrum you are using.

There is a certain arcade machine on Cetus Island which can provide valuable gifts from Simulacrum free. It can be used up to 3 times a day and the rewards are multi-tiered and random.

Triangle and rectangle shaped chests come back, but not orbs

Tower of Fantasy has several types of chests. The triangular and rectangular ones reward you with basic materials for items and food. The spherical ones are more important, as they give an amount of “orbs” that will be used as currency in gacha, in addition to Black Crystalswhich are the “premium money”.

The first ones mentioned will reappear within the game, but the spherical chests will be available in the places where you find them only once.

Save your Black Crystals

If you are one of those players who expects specific banners to play in the gacha system, a golden tip is: don’t waste your Black Crystals for nothing. The game gives you a considerable amount of orange and purple “orbs” for free (for quests and chests) to use in the default banner.

2 gacha system trumps

Tower of Fantasy’s gacha system is considerably more complex than Genshin Impact’s, but it has two very positive features for the player. The first is that, after 80 shots in the standard banners (orange and purple), it is certain that you will receive an SSR character/weapon – the highest ranking in the game. And it doesn’t matter if you get a good simulacrum before the counter fills up, because the count is not zero.

Another little secret is that, with each shot, you receive a coin/badge to spend in the gacha shop. With a total of 120, you can buy copies weapons you already have, without having to rely on luck, and level up your equipment. A good strategy is: when you get a character in the special banner, wait for it to be added in the options of the standard banner to buy weapon copies and evolve. So you don’t have to spend your luck unnecessarily.

An important point to warn is that the special banners have different probability. When your shot counter fills up, you have always 50% chance of getting the character – it’s not as certain as the standard banner.

Use the map to your advantage

If you are near a puzzle that gives Black Crystals or chests as a reward, symbols will appear on the minimap. ORBs (gacha coin chests) will be marked with an orb and puzzles that give Black Crystals will be marked with a diamond shape.

climb to infinity

Some cliffs on the Tower of Fantasy map may be higher than your stamina allows you to climb in the conventional way, but there is a little “cheat” to help you in these moments. You can practically climb to infinity letting go of the cliff, jumping twice and climbing the cliff again. Your double jump should give you a little extra air.

Use mounts to accelerate

Finally, running around the map speeds up exploration, but there is a way to go even faster: using in-game mounts. There are several that you can unlock during the game, and they are significantly faster than your feet.
