Austin Butler wins the Golden Globe for "Best Actor in a Drama" for his role in the film "Elvis"

Austin Butler was the winner of the Golden Globe in the category of “Best Actor in a Drama”, for his role in the film “Elvis”, at the Golden Globe 2023. The award, which is considered one of the Oscar previews, took place in Beverly Hills , in the United States, this Tuesday (10).

The 31-year-old actor lived the King of Rock on the big screen and was a success with the public and critics. He was already considered one of the favorites in the category, which was very disputed, and which had the following competitors: Brendan Fraser (“The Whale”), Hugh Jackman (“Um Filho”), Bill Nighy (“Living”) and Jeremy Pope ( “The Inspection”).

In his speech, Austin Butler thanked “Elvis” director Baz Luhrmann and fellow cast member Tom Hanks. “Oh man, I’m running out of words. I’m so grateful right now. I’m in this room full of my heroes. I owe it to a bold and visionary filmmaker who allowed me to experience risk-taking and always knew I would be supported. I love you, Baz Luhrmann. Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. I’m so grateful to you. I also want to thank my dance partner, the greatest dance partner I could ever hope for, Mr. Tom Hanks.”

Lastly, of course, he fondly remembered the King of Rock and Roll. “Lastly, Elvis Presley himself, you are an icon and a rebel. I love you so much. Thank you. You are remembered and I will never forget thank you!”
