Beyoncé changed one of the songs from her recently released album, “RENAISSANCE”. This Wednesday (3), she uploaded an updated version of “ENERGY (feat. BEAM)”, the fifth track of the new album, on the streaming platform TIDAL.
After Kelis’ complaints that her song “Milkshake” was sampled without her permission, Beyoncé acted quickly and uploaded a new version of the track to “RENAISSANCE”. Soon your fans who use TIDAL noticed the change, which should arrive soon on other streaming platforms.
Over the weekend, Kelis lashed out at those involved in the production of “Energy”, including Beyoncé. “I’m amazed that the level of disrespect and total ignorance of all 3 parties involved (in the music) is astounding. I’ve heard about it the same way everyone else. Nothing is ever as it seems, some of the people in this business have no soul or integrity and deceive everyone,” he said.
Kelis was more critical of those involved, including Beyoncé. “This isn’t collaboration, it’s theft.”
It is worth remembering that the voice of “BREAK MY SOUL” had already announced another change on the album, but in relation to the lyrics of “HEATED”. The track brought a term considered ableist (it is the idea that people with disabilities are inferior to people who do not have them).
Despite these two problems, the album “RENAISSANCE” remains highly praised by critics and the public. Watch the video comparing the songs below:
I’m so glad someone did this, because the first listen I missed it.
