Beyoncé Says She'll Change "Heated" Lyrics To "Capable"

After LIzzo, Beyoncé also found herself embroiled in controversy for using a term considered ableist (it is the idea that people with disabilities are inferior to those who do not have them). In both cases, the term used was “spaz” (and also the variant “spazzing”, in the case of Bey).

Colloquially the word is used to describe someone who is “freaking out” (as in “I freaked out when I saw that boy”), formally, the word has another connotation, being used to define the spasms that, for example, a person with paralysis brain suffers.

Beyoncé used the word on “HEATED,” one of the most upbeat tracks on her just-released new album, which hit the market three days ago. And that’s where things heated up for Knowles, after all, it’s almost impossible that she hasn’t seen the problems Lizzo faced because of her use of the word on “Grrrls,” which came out in June.

In any case, she also said that she will change the recording, although, as her spokesperson said, the singer did not use the term with the intention of causing any kind of offense.
