Previously, David Boreanaz had revealed that he would not want to return to play the vampire Angel in a reboot of the series.

“I support people rebooting the show, but I’m old. It’s not like we’re the cast of ‘Friends’ getting together. We’re not hanging out in a coffee shop on a couch. But, you know, like all technology, they made Robert De Niro look really young.”

He adds, “I would like to encourage you to find someone else to take on the role.”

On the other hand, James Marsterswho played the vampire Spike, set to return for the reboot.

The new series would not replace the iconic role of Sarah Michelle Gellarbut rather introduce a new hunter.

“The reboot is like my ‘Star Wars’. Before I became a screenwriter, I was a fan. For seven years, I’ve watched Buffy Summers grow up, find love, kill that love. I watched her fight and suffer and hunt. There is only ONE Buffy. A Xander, a Willow, Giles, Cordelia, Oz, Tara, Kendra, Faith, Spike, Angel… They can’t be replaced. Joss Whedon’s brilliant series cannot be replicated. I won’t try to do that. But here we are… 20 years later… and the world looks a lot scarier. So maybe it’s time we met a new hunter. And that’s all I can say.”

The reboot is being developed by 20th Century Fox Televisionand Joss Whedon, creator of the original series, is involved as an executive producer.

buffy was created in 1992 in the movie ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’lived by the actress Kristy Swanson. Although it has a bad reputation, the film was the basis for the cult series, which premiered in 1997 and ran for 7 seasons until 2003.
