More than a decade after the release of the first game, dead island 2 seems to be getting closer and closer to reaching the hands of players and fans of Deep Silver’s zombie series. Since then, the sequel has gone through a lot of behind-the-scenes trouble, having passed through the hands of several different studios. But it looks like things are finally on track now.
After all, apparently the game will arrive next year — and this time the information is still palpable, not only accompanied by the cover image, but also gameplay screens and even a release forecast. All this ended up leaking on the Amazon website in a publication that was taken down.
As the people at Game Informer were quick, you can check out the cover below, gameplay images and other information from Dead Island 2: Day One Edition:

According to the site, the product description stated that the new title should take place “many months after the events in Banoi”. Players will have to explore California, which is now a restricted area by the military and has become an action-packed area “for the renegades looking for adventure, glory and a fresh start”. The game must match classic Dead Island elements with “crazy, never-before-seen handcrafted weapons” as well as “insane characters.
The removed ad also indicated that the game’s release is set for the day February 3, 2023, corroborating Deep Silver’s own information that the new Dead Island would be released by the end of March next year. Also, sources for journalist Tom Henderson claim that the title could be revealed during The Game Awards 2022, so it shouldn’t be long before we have some sort of confirmation.
