According to a transcript from the VGC website, this year’s edition will feature many games that weren’t ready to be showcased at this year’s Summer Game Fest. The journalist says that more than twenty games will be on stage at the event, including “some cool surprises and things people wouldn’t expect”.
“We’ve got some cool stuff. We haven’t announced the list of companies present yet, but I think we have some cool surprises and things that I don’t think people think will be there… That’s a lot of games. We’ll have two hours of content to show you. , including gameplay clips, trailer and ads,” says Geoff.
He adds that much of the event’s content is about what’s on the way in 2023 and beyond. “Yeah, I think people are going to be excited and I’m really excited for the fans to see it all,” he concluded.

For this year’s edition, the presence of Sonic Frontiers, the new adventure of Sega’s blue hedgehog that arrives later this year, has already been confirmed. It is to be expected that the game will finally receive a release date. The recently announced Goat Simulator 3 will also get its first gameplay video.
It is worth remembering that the Xbox brand has also confirmed its presence at Gamescom 2022 and should bring games already announced for the Xbox ecosystem and arriving in the next twelve months.
For reference, last year’s Opening Night Live featured games like Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, Saint’s Row, Marvel Midnight Suns, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Horizon Forbidden West and more.
