George Miller Wrote the Script for ‘Mad Max: Furiosa’ BEFORE Filming ‘Fury Road’
In an interview with The AV Club, the director George Miller revealed that he had already finalized the script for the prequel’Angry‘ even before the filming of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘.
The filmmaker revealed that the project was born out of a need to explore and explain the film’s universe to those involved in its development.
“In ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ there are several references to Furiosa’s past and her motivations. We never explained how she lost her arm. We never explain what the Green Place of Many Mothers is. We never explain how Citadel works. We basically had the script for ‘Furiosa’ completed before filming ‘Fury Road’, because we wanted to explain to everyone who Furiosa was – to Charlize when she took on the role, and to all the actors and designers and others. who worked at Citadel. I felt like it was a really good script, so I said to myself, ‘If ‘Fury Road’ works out, I want to tell this story.
He adds, “That’s how [a pré-sequência] ended up happening. I’m not saying it was accidental, but it was born out of a need to explain the ‘Fury Road’ universe, whose story basically took place over the course of three days.”
It is worth remembering that the film will hit theaters in May 24, 2024.
Anya Taylor-Joy will replace the actress Charlize Theron as Furiosa, playing a younger version of the character. Chris Hemsworth will play the villain of the plot.
Launched in 2015, the predecessor is considered a success by specialized critics, reaching 97% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoesas well as receiving six Oscar statuettes out of ten nominations, including Best Picture.
Despite this, the film only raised $378.9 million around the world, from a budget of US$ 150 million.
