As the match between Dover High School and Life Christian Academy commenced, chaos ensued when Vitales collapsed approximately three minutes into the first quarter. Concerned coaches quickly assessed the situation and determined that Vitales had no pulse, prompting immediate action.
Miller’s Lifesaving Training
Magnus Miller, 18, who had previously completed lifeguard training, wasted no time in responding to the emergency. He utilized an automated external defibrillator (AED) to help restore Vitales’ heartbeat and took charge of performing CPR.
