Listen to the re-recording of "Pride (In The Name Of Love)" that will be on the next U2 album

U2 released the first sample of “Songs Of Surrender”, the band’s new album that will bring, at least in its most complete edition, new versions of 40 songs recorded by the band between 1980 and 2017.

Released in 1984, “Pride” became one of the quartet’s biggest hits and, soon, had already become a band classic, with a guaranteed presence in the shows – no wonder this is the song they played the most live.

This “Pride (2023)” has some differences from the original. Starting with the acoustic arrangement. Bono also made some lyrical changes, including correcting a historic error. In the original it sang that Martin Luther King (1929 – 1968) had been killed “in the early hours of the morning of April 4”, but in fact, the great leader for the fight for American civil rights, was assassinated during the afternoon at 6 pm.

“Songs Of Surrender” will come in multiple editions, with the deluxe edition featuring four discs, each with songs selected by a member of the band. See which ones were chosen:
