Success! The sequence ‘Minions 2: The Origin of Gru‘ managed to surpass the total box office of ‘Batman‘ (US$770.8M), entering the TOP 4 of the biggest box office of the year.

Currently, animation is second only to ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ (US$1.37B), ‘Jurassic World: Dominion‘ (US$974.5M) and ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ (US$954.8M).

In the United States, the film grossed $343.7 million – becoming the first animation to surpass US$ 300 million domestically after the COVID pandemic. In the international market, $446.7 million.

In total, production already adds up to $790.4 million worldwide.

Please note that ‘minions 2‘ debuted with $127.4 million in North American theaters – the biggest opening for an animation after the quarantine period -, breaking the record of ‘Transformers: The Dark Side of the Moon‘ (US$115.8M) for the Independence Day holiday.
