It took a while, but finally Nicki Minaj has a number 1 to call her own. “Super Freaky Girl,” her latest single, topped Beyoncé’s “BREAK MY SOUL,” which dropped to No. 4 and went straight to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The rapper’s new hit samples the classic “Super Freak,” which Rick James released in 1980.
Minaj, who has been releasing records for 15 years, only recently achieved her first number one singles in the US. In both cases, they came up with partnerships: “TROLLZ”, which she recorded with 6ix9ine (2020) and the remix for “Say So”, by Doja Cat, also from the same year.
In the album ranking, she has two “Billboard number 1”, with “Pink Friday” and its “turbined” version, which arrived there in 2010 and 2012. The artist has not released a studio album since “Queen”, which came out in 2018
The top 40 had just two new additions, both from rapper Rod Wave, whose latest album (“Beautiful Mind”) tops the albums of the week rankings. “Alone” was ranked 21st and “Yungen (Feat. Jack Harlow)” was ranked 35th.
