According to Variety, Zack Snyder (‘Army of the Dead’) is already developing a sequel to the upcoming sci-fi ‘Rebel Moon‘, which will be released by Netflix.
The website claims the sequel received $16.6 million of California tax credits. Furthermore, it was also stated that each film will cost $83 million only on “qualified” state spending, which excludes “extra” costs such as actor and director salaries.
Unfortunately, the production does not yet have a release date.

The great cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Sofia Boutella, Stuart Martin, Anthony Hopkins, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang, Alfonso Herrera, Michiel Huisman, Cary Elwes and Corey Stoll.
Commenting on the cast of the new project, Snyder said:
“I love my people. I always call these guys to work with me. I like my acting family, and if they’re not busy or something, it’s always an honor to have the opportunity to work with them again.”
“For example, Billy Crudup is one of those cases. It’s just that I’ve been so lucky and I’ve worked with such amazing people and I consider so many of my friends that it would be great to work with them whenever I can.”
In addition to driving, Snyder sign the script next to Shay Hatten (‘Army of the Dead’) and Kurt Johnstad (‘300’).
The plot revolves around a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruler named Balisarius. The desperate people dispatch a young man with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them get their bearings.
“This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan. It’s my love of science fiction and it’s going to be a giant adventure. My hope is that this will also become a huge franchise and a universe that can be built. I’ve spent the last two or three years building this universe. Every corner has to be painted. I have been designing, constantly drawing and really cultivating its fertile soil to make this world fully realized.” Snyder to The Hollywood Reporter.
The premiere is expected to take place in 2023.
