‘Sandman’ movie would have Dream, Lucifer and Corinthian as twins and a giant spider
Tried to adaptsandman‘ sometimes, before the work arrives at Netflix as a series, thus passing into the hands of several producers who tried to adapt it in their own way. One of these attempts was so bizarre that not even Neil Gaiman could stand such heresy.
Gaiman revealed that one of the scripts would have a giant mechanical spider, and Dream, Lucifer and the Corinthian as triplets in a crazy bet. In an interview with Rolling Stone, via Jovem Nerd, the author tells what the story was like.
“Lucifer, Morpheus and the Corinthian were identical triplets. The plot was a race to see who could get the ruby, helm and sand pouch before midnight on the last day of 1999, at the turn of the millennium. Whoever did it would be the winner.” Gaiman.
The idea came up in the 1990s, at the request of the producer Jon Petersresponsible for ‘Batman‘ (1989), according to the writer.
Another curious fact is that Sandman would have a giant mechanical spider. The arachnid was also one of the producer’s ideas for ‘Superman Lives‘, project Tim Burton which had Nicolas Cage as the Man of Steel.
“They called me to see what I thought of the script. I said I hadn’t read everything, but I had read enough. When they asked me if it was okay, I said, ‘No. Not even.’ They insisted, ‘Let’s go. There must be something in there that you liked!’ And I said, ‘There’s nothing I like. Anything. It’s the worst script I’ve ever been sent. It’s not just the worst Sandman script. It’s the worst script I’ve ever read in my life. Neil Gaimanfor being irritated.
