‘The Good Doctor’ is getting a spin-off focused on a lawyer with OCD
According to Deadline, the broadcaster ABC is developing a spin-off for the medical series’The Good Doctor‘.
Entitled ‘The Good Lawyer‘ (The Good Lawyer), the project will focus on Joni, a brilliant lawyer who suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
The character will be introduced in a special episode of the upcoming season of ‘The Good Doctor‘. Joni will be hired as the defense attorney for Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore).
David Shore and Liz Friedman will serve as executive producers for the spinoff series.
The series was created by David Shore (‘Dr House’).
The plot focuses on Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and Savant syndrome who moves from a quiet country life to join the surgical unit at a prestigious hospital. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, Shaun uses his extraordinary medical gifts to win over his colleagues and save the lives of patients.
The cast has Freddie Highmore, Fiona Gubelmann, Will Yun Lee, Christina Chang, Paige Spara, Noah Galvin, Bria Samone Henderson, Osvaldo Benavides, Hill Harper and Richard Schiff.
In Brazil, the series is available on the streaming service of Globo Play.
